Let’s get to know one another…
I am so excited you’re here! I figure what better time to share information about myself than now! Here are ten fun facts about me:
The photo of myself on this blog is from the Great Smoky Mountains - my husband and I have a goal to visit all of the National Parks in the United States. We have hit 24 out of 63 thus far!
I am the youngest of 3 in my family and have one sister and one brother.
My favorite food would have to be a tie between NY style pizza, french fries or sour watermelon gummy candies.
I have naturally curly hair and spent about 15 years of my younger years straightening it. This year I just started allowing my hair to be curly and in its natural state.
Dietetics was not my first career - I originally went to school in Poughkeepsie, NY and completed a Bachelors of Professional Studies in Fashion Merchandising and worked at a consulting firm in NYC for about 9 months before I quit and went back to school for nutrition.
My husband and I worked as contract dietitians during the first few years of our careers and lived in many different states including: NJ, NY, CA, WA, MD and now CO. Who knows where we will go next! (oh yeah, fun fact he is also a dietitian!)
At our wedding in 2021 we had alpacas present for photos! I love all things alpaca related.
I see a therapist for my own mental health and wellbeing - it was the best decision I made 4 years ago.
I am a millennial through and through. I am nostalgic of the years I grew up during - the 90s and early 2000s before technology took over. But I am not nostalgic of the massive diet influence of those years.
I love visiting a good thrift store or browsing the posts on Facebook Marketplace, or perusing an estate sale. Most of my home is furnished via those two to be honest. I believe in reusing and not adding to the massive consumption in our society (but no judgement if that’s important to you!!), and being frugal. I value the memories made within my home more than the furnishings in it and where they came from.
And an extra one just for good measure!
My dad has type I diabetes so I grew up being acutely aware of how nutrition can impact clinical diagnoses. I also understood from a young age that medicine is life saving and should be accessible for all.
